The Kansas City star reports the University of Kansas has discussed its vacant football coaching position with Ole Miss coach Houston Nutt. We’re checking. LINK

Update 3:33 p.m.

Nutt is on the road recruiting. It’s unclear if a statement is coming. Nutt has not immediately returned a text message seeking comment. Ole Miss athletics director Pete Boone is out of town.

Update 4:11 p.m.

Boone says there’s “nothing to it” in response to the report.

Update 6 p.m.

Still no word from Nutt. There is the possibility that he’ll issue a statement through media relations later this evening, but nothing is certain on that.

I'm not so sure if this whole Nutt to KU thing has legs or not, but we don't need to be waiting around on anything with the recruiting season starting in full swing as we speak. We should be on the horn with Charlie Strong or Will Muschamp or someone with a good history as a recruiter and track record as a assistant. Don't know of many out there with a good head coaching record thats available right now that we would consider, hell no to Tommy T. If Nutt's agent is bringing all this up trying to get him a raise, we should call him out on it and if he want's to leave we should help him pack. This would really be hurting our recruiting with all of our recruits hearing that he's intrested in another job. If he stays, well thats kool too but they need to drop all the raise scandals and junk, thats just making his job harder than its got to be.

Let me ask you this PA. If Nutt were indeed interested in the coaching vacancy at Kansas and had spoke with their AD already wouldn't their AD had to have had already spoked and asked Pete Boone for the right to speak to Nutt? If Boone says there's nothing to it all this means is some redneck in Arkansas still has a bowl of Nutts manure and steadily stirring it up. Yea we all know Nutt is a BIG 12 guy, but i don't see him leaving a middle tier SEC school to go coach a bottom tier BIG 12 school thats known for basketball, now if it were OKIE ST, that would be a diff story, he would've already been gone, but ole Gundy isn't going anywhere i don't believe, and neither is NUTT.

This is why it's not worth it to play State. Beating State 45-0 while giving up 39 yards of total offense didn't give me near the satisfaction compared to the misery of losing by 14 points this year.

What could we get for winning that could possibly compare with putting up with "dawg" crap for the next year?

Nutt is not going to Kansas. That would be the weirdest transition ever. From a middle tier (not traditionally, but last 20 years; State is bottom tier from which to judge tiers) SEC school to a lower tier Big-12 football program. Although I could see him moving just to shake the porkers.

HA you honestly think Mississippi State will ever have a better recruiting class than Ole Miss? Dan Mullen spent four years in Florida and couldn't sign two guys from there. Maybe they will sign more players from Mississippi, which has some of the worst recruits in the SEC. Ole Miss only signed four from Mississippi last year, including the state's top prospect. We stick with Texas and Florida. How is that ICC transfer midget quarterback working out for you?

Dawsgfan01, "What do you think will happen when Dan gets better and more athletes?" I can't see it that way, to the contrary. Sorry.

Keep 'em coming State fans. Apparantly there's nothing going on with your program since the football season is over and the OVER-rated basketball team has two losses to unranked teams already. Enjoy hanging out on our blog the next month to keep yourselves entertained.

I'm sure both teams will recruit well this year by the way.

Nothing wrong with the whiskey bottles and high heels in my opinion. When the Rebels lose, the two make it that much easier to cope with.

For the record I hope Nutt remains at TSUN, if Dan can beat him (41-27) when TSUN clearly has better players. What do you think will happen when Dan gets better and more athletes? Go ahead and bring up all your "history" but Dan is 1-0 against Nutt and TSUN. By the way who do you think will land a better recruiting class? The sad part about it is MSU will out recruit TSUN when they have been to back to back January bowls.

If it isn't true, and he has no interest in Kansas why doesn't he make a statement? I suppose State fans put this in the media...right? On ESPN and the blog?
