JACKSON — Conservative author and TV commentator Angela McGlowan says she's running for Congress in northern Mississippi.

She held a news conference Monday in Oxford to announce that she's seeking the Republican nomination.

The GOP is hoping to unseat Democrat Travis Childers, who has held the 1st District seat since mid-2008.

McGlowan faces state Sen. Alan Nunnelee of Tupelo and former Eupora Mayor Henry Ross in the June 1 Republican primary.

She is a Lafayette County native and has worked as a Fox News analyst. She published a book in 2007 called, "Bamboozled: How Americans Are Being Exploited by the Lies of the Liberal Agenda."

McGlowan spoke this past weekend at a national Tea Party convention in Nashville.

Angela McGlowan might be a formidable candidate. She definitely has a leg up when it comes to the media. She has the contacts and she knows how to use the media to her benefit.

Additionally, she probably has far more contacts within the Republican party on a national level than both Childers and Nunnelee combined. So, that should give her a definite advantage when it comes to fund raising.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if she were to win the whole thing.

They're all the same. Same goes for Travis.

Nunnelee is the man for the job. McGlowan will endorse him after a hard fought primary!
