Here's the press release from Century Construction:

Century Construction and Realty’s Project Receives National Recognition

Tupelo, MS – Local Tupelo company, Century Construction and Realty, was instrumental in the construction of the newly rebuilt Boys & Girls Club of the Gulf Coast in Pass Christian. Thursday, May 7 the Boys & Girls Club is set to receive national media coverage on Good Morning America, a program of the ABC networks.

After Hurricane Katrina’s tidal surge hit the United States coast in 2005, eighty percent of the coastal town of Pass Christian was destroyed. Included in this devastation was the newly remodeled Boys & Girls Club of the Gulf Coast, which at the time was serving 200 to 300 children daily. Though the city suffered from physical and economic loss, the Club continued to meet using an available school auditorium and classrooms.

In 2008, Century Construction and Realty was awarded the general contractor position for the Boys & Girls Club of the Gulf Coast. The work had significant meaning for the construction company in several ways. One being Century Construction’s continued work expansion along the Mississippi Coast, but the most important being their key role in rebuilding a much-needed facility that stood to help hundreds of coastal youth each year.

“This was more than your standard construction job,” says Clay Evans, Project Manager for the Boys & Girls Club in Pass Christian. “It is a great feeling to be a Mississippi-founded company helping to rebuild a facility on the Mississippi Coast that will touch the lives of so many youth.”

The National Broadcast on Good Morning America will be celebrating the grand opening of the Boys & Girls Club at the Qatar Center in Pass Christian. The broadcast begins at 6 a.m. followed by the ribbon cutting at 7 a.m. and an open house until 5:30 p.m.

“Boys & Girls Club of the Gulf Coast is proud to showcase our new state-of-the-art facility – the Qatar Center – in Pass Christian,” says Samuel J. Burke, Executive Director of Boys & Girls Club of the Gulf Coast. “The design and construction of the building ensure an environment that will promote creativity, learning and, most importantly, fun for the youth that we serve.”

The Boys & Girls Club of the Gulf Coast conservatively estimates that the number of youth and teens utilizing the Club each year will be over 1,300.

About Boys & Girls Club of the Gulf Coast: The mission of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Gulf Coast is to inspire and enable all youth, especially those who need us most, to become productive, responsible and caring citizens. We engage over 3,000 youth, ages 5-18, annually in life changing after school programs in six clubs spread across the Gulf Coast. For more information about the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Gulf Coast, visit their website at www.bgcgulfcoast.org.

About Century Construction and Realty: Century Construction and Realty was founded in 1997 and has continued to expand in their first ten years. The company has evolved from construction to include a full-service demolition unit, a real estate division and increased specialization in both design-build and green construction approaches. Century Construction and Realty is a member of the US Green Building Council and is helping to pave the way in green building for Mississippi as one of the few green-certified construction companies in the state.
