Canden Dallas was awfully efficient in Pontotoc’s season opener. The senior quarterback completed 8 of 14 passes for 187 yards and three touchdowns in the Warriors’ 42-13 dismantling of arch-rival South Pontotoc on Friday night.

In Springville, Pontotoc staked a 21-0 lead before South Pontotoc (1-1) could get on the board. Dallas had TD passes of 41 and 26 yards during the early surge, and he added a 33-yard scoring toss to Ryan Thompson just before halftime for a 35-6 lead.

Randall Crayton rushed for 175 yards and two touchdowns on 14 carries for Pontotoc. Rashad Dixon, Shaquille Crayton and Maurice Berry also scored for Pontotoc.

Monte Love and Deonte Dilworth scored TDs for the Cougars.

- Tishomingo County 28, Alcorn Central 12: Jake Walker threw two touchdown passes for the Braves (1-1). His 15-yard strike to Devin Hamm opened the scoring, and a 27-yarder to Dustin Garland in the third quarter made it 14-0.

Dakota Chandler had a 6-yard run for Tishomingo County, while Luke White ripped off a 62-yarder, both in the fourth period. Alcorn Central fell to 1-1.

- Hatley 45, Houlka 6: Look out for Hatley. The Tigers are off to a 2-0 start – they haven’t won two games in a season since 2003. Cody Taylor ran for two touchdowns and passed for another for Hatley.

Houlka fell to 0-2.

- Belmont 48, Mantachie 12: Belmont made its Class 3A debut in fine fashion, with Cody Sartin rushing for 87 yards and three touchdowns on six carries. Gage Smith had 126 rushing yards and two TDs on 10 totes for the Cardinals.

Dustin Poole had a pair of scoring runs for Belmont, too. Mantachie fell to 1-1.

- Lafayette County 33, Memphis Trezevant 12: The Commodores (2-0) got a balanced effort and jumped out to a 27-6 first half lead. Jeremy Liggins had a pair of 1-yard runs in the first half for Lafayette.

- Biggersville 20, Middleton, Tenn., 0: The Lions cruised at home and improved to 2-0 on the season. The game’s highlight was Jon Regin’s 91-yard TD run in the second quarter to open the scoring. Regin gained 142 yards on 14 carries. The other scores came on Jake Johnson’s 19-yard pass to Trey Clark and Ben Sand’s 20-yard run.
