Reeder, Johnson lead Wave to Louisiana win

Tupelo High School’s golf team won the Beau Chen Golf Classis this past weekend in Mandeville, La., against an elite field of state and Louisiana teams.

The Golden Wave’s two-day total of 614 topped Northwest Rankin (624), Itawamba AHS (631) and Oak Grove (631). Catholic High of Baton Rouge (639) was fifth and Jesuit of New Orleans (641) sixth.

Tupelo’s Wilson Reeder, a sophomore, was the medalist after recording a two-day score of 78-69 – 147.

Fletcher Johnson was one-shot back in a three-way tie at 148 with two-time Louisiana state champion Myles Lewis of Jesuit and Madison Central’s Leighton Greer. Noah West had a 154 and Nick Rainey a 165 for the Golden Wave. Austin Rose also participated for Tupelo.
