MSU spokesman Joe Galbraith confirmed a report that there is a “situation” involving football signee Dennis Thames. The defensive back’s name is on the Neshoba Democrat’s Tuesday county jail docket. The report says Thames was arrested for “public intoxication-other substance.”

“We’re aware of the situation, and we’re looking into it further, and until we know more information, we’re not going to comment any further,” Galbraith said.

Thames is the third Bulldog to be arrested this year. DB Maurice Langston (possession of marijuana with intent to distribute) and WR Arceto Clark (petty larceny) are still suspended from the team.

More details to come.

Don't know, dawg-U. Good question for me to look into.

Guitar, just leave them in the comments section below Monday's Blog Bag entry. Or if you prefer, you can e-mail them to brad.locke@djournal.com. Thanks.

In my opinion, signees that haven't even made it to campus should have to suffer the consequences of their actions at the hands of their parents. They certainly aren't under the supervision of MSU or the football coaches. Have there been instances of freshmen signees, not yet enrolled in school, who were suspended by the team for actions that occurred on their parent's watch?
