For all of Tennessee athletes, the most damaging in the first meeting with Ole Miss was All-SEC center Wayne Chism.

When Ole Miss lost 71-69 in overtime in Knoxville on Jan. 16, Chism had 26 points, including six free throws in the final minute.

Chism was 7-for-13 from the floor and hit back-to-back 3-pointers in the last 5 1-2 minutes.

“He’s their all-league guy, their leader. We can’t let him do to us what he did the first time,” Ole Miss coach Andy Kennedy said. “He’s not a volume 3-point shooter, but he’s a big shot maker.”

Chism had 17 points and 11 rebounds in the Vols’ 59-49 first-round SEC tournament win over LSU. He was 6-for-9 from the floor, 2-for-5 from 3-point range.

A 6-9, 245-pound senior from Jackson, Tenn., Chism is sixth in Tennessee career rebounding, second in blocked shots.

He averaged 13.4 points and 7.9 rebounds in SEC play.

I think they can guard Chism. I think the key will be Williams. They don't have a match for his body and style. Cranston will get in foul trouble just looking at him.

the TV commentator who called the ole miss / tennessee game had a man crush on chism. you would have thought every shot he made cured cancer and ended the war on poverty. apart from how annoying that was... and apart from chism wearing his headband like a jewish yamaka... there is no doubting his talent. he consistently gives ole miss fits in games. if they can hold him to 15 points or so this time around, i like our chances.
