A Lee County resident is one of four new confirmed cases of West Nile Virus announced Friday by the Mississippi State Department of Health.

The state health department also announced Friday that a Forrest County resident had died from the mosquito-borne virus - the second death since July.

In all, 15 cases and two deaths have been reported in eight counties since July. No further information was released about the Lee County resident with the disease.

To reduce risk of infection, remove standing water, avoid mosquito-prone areas, wear protective clothing and use a DEET-based repellent.
